Power facilities targeted in the region
The country's energy systems have faced increased strikes in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were injured while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and encountered interruptions to drinking water, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southern area, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has increased assaults on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while officials has called for "real steps" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

He said that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty rockets targeted the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged electrical systems and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the assaults on the city have been taken to hospital, according to local officials.

Government officials told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with assaults already affecting fuel infrastructure.
