Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an better service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet defended four initial break points in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
